A Quick Look on Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves Second Trailer and Merchandise Updates

Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves has a second trailer! Although it adds one new tease on what’s already known, it’s the humour that’s the highlight here!

Theatrical poster for Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among ThievesHow many classic monsters can viewers recognize in Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves second trailer? There’s one add to the list of what’s already known and overall, serves up nothing really news to what’s known which I wrote about some months ago.

Here, we are finally told about the tale: after Edgin the Bard (Chris Pine) and his merry team consisting of Holga the Barbarian (Michelle Rodriguez), Xenk the Paladin (Regé-Jean Page), Simon the Sorcerer (Justice Smith), Doric the Druid (Sophia Lillis) and Forge the Rogue (Hugh Grant), realise they worked for the wrong side, they have to do right. To do good according to the thieves way of living is a must, and it’s good to see some story reveal tie in to the film’s title.

After they accomplished one theft, they have another planned to correct their mistake. But things get hairier when the Red Wizards cometh to bring the end of the world. The plot is nothing special and the vibe suggests that this goofy gang of miscrents will find a way to do what’s right. Even though everything is foreign to them–including the use of the American spelling of the word for better marketing purposes here–they’ll find a way to correct that mistake.

But when this latest trailer reveals the undead will make up a mighty climax, perhaps there will be more surprises. I’d love to see an appearance of a Lich appear to put a wrench into the entire plan!

What we do know is the monsters the enemy can summon (or make alive). On the list includes the classic gargoyle, which–if I remember the art correctly–is right out of the Monster Manual. Other beasts include the displacer beast, owl bear and mimic. All these mainstays do more than honour the game system, and as for how many more get featured, it depends on what’s roaming elsewhere in this land. Everyone knows a red dragon protecting its treasure is coming. The trailer saves this the icing on the cake for last, but will there be more?

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Druid's Call by E.K. Johnston: 9780593598160 | PenguinRandomHouse.com: Books

For those who want to know every backstory and lead-up to the film, two books will be published prior to the film’s release. The Druid’s Call (Amazon link) by E.K. Johnston and The Road to Neverwinter (Amazon) by Jaleigh Johnson are revealed to look at Edgin. In the comic book front, Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves—The Feast of the Moon (Amazon link) will be specific to him and a band of merry thieves. It is penned by Jeremy Lambert and Ellen Boener, with art by Eduardo Ferigato and Guillermo Sanna. After the movie, The Art and Making of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be released.

Hasbro has wasted no time getting action figures ready. Although I prefer 28mm scale miniatures to use in my tabletop, to be too specific for the target audience can be made. Instead, we have four figures (Edgin, Holga, Simon and Forge as this franchise’s first wave of toys. They accompany the usual menagerie of monsters too, which also includes the Gelantinus Cube!
