The Mummy (2026) Trailer Analysis: Ancient Gods, Ritual Horror, and a Corrupted Afterlife

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026) teaser hints at ritual horror, corrupted afterlife myths, and an unsettling procedural mystery rooted in Ancient Egyptian belief. This isn’t a nostalgic revival, but a darker reckoning with gods, death, and what should stay buried.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026)After watching the teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026) several times, there’s enough on screen to start forming a clearer theory beyond what’s been officially published. I’ve deliberately avoided forums and fan speculation, so this read comes purely from what the trailer itself is offering.

I’ve always had a soft spot for The Mummy as a concept. Even in its earliest versions, including the Hammer era, it functioned as a love story filtered through horror. That emotional spine gave the zombie myth a strange elegance. Stephen Sommers later pushed the material into camp and spectacle, turning it into pulp adventure. This new iteration appears to reject both approaches entirely. Sitting outside Universal’s legacy plans, it feels safe to assume Blumhouse has given Cronin the freedom to rebuild the myth from the ground up.

Don’t Be Surprised When All You Need Is Kill… and Hope It Doesn’t Lead to Stranger Things

A new animated take on All You Need Is Kill finally brings the time-loop war story back to its roots, with Studio 4°C style and a sharper focus than the Hollywood version. The trailer suggests something leaner, stranger, and a little too close to Stranger Things for comfort.

Back in 2014, a live-action adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s light novel All You Need Is Kill arrived as the blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow. Whether that version worked depended on how much affection you have for Tom Cruise or Emily Blunt. I won’t go there. What matters is that the story is finally being adapted and given the respect it deserves, rather than letting it be shaped by Hollywood’s elite. That alone feels like a game-changer.

GKIDS has picked up the licence for the North American release following its Japanese premiere, and this time the focus stays where it belongs. The premise is simple. In the original book, Keiji Kiriya is a lonely soldier boy caught in a time loop, and the only way out is to change something fundamental. What, exactly, is the mystery?

Predator: Killer of Killers is Coming Soon! Can Humanity Survive?

Sorry Marvel Comics, but Dark Horse Comics got the right idea on how to continue Predator with Killer of Killers–especially when I’m recognizing proper universe expanding elements in the trailer.

Predator Killer of Killers Movie PosterComing soon is Predator: Killer of Killers, and this animated entry may well be the best to date. There’s no denying the original set the precedent, and the last film, Prey, gave fans what we really wanted rather than a shared universe with another alien. I love the idea of combining some IPs, but to see Marvel Comics having this ultimate assassin go up against their own heroes is a huge misstep! Yes I know they are non canonical material, but I don’t want it.

The trailer that was released a few days ago gave this long-time fan goosebumps! Killer of Killers will be released on June 6, and Badlands will be on Nov 7. Dan Trachtenberg is the creative mind behind both works, and it’s about time someone is handling this IP rather than random individuals hired to add their take on top. I have been enjoying the extended universe through Dark Horse Comics rather than the other company, and I suspect this filmmaker has done the same when considering the vibe I’m getting from the teaser.
