Predator: Killer of Killers is Coming Soon! Can Humanity Survive?

Sorry Marvel Comics, but Dark Horse Comics got the right idea on how to continue Predator with Killer of Killers–especially when I’m recognizing proper universe expanding elements in the trailer.

Predator Killer of Killers Movie PosterComing soon is Predator: Killer of Killers, and this animated entry may well be the best to date. There’s no denying the original set the precedent, and the last film, Prey, gave fans what we really wanted rather than a shared universe with another alien. I love the idea of combining some IPs, but to see Marvel Comics having this ultimate assassin go up against their own heroes is a huge misstep! Yes I know they are non canonical material, but I don’t want it.

The trailer that was released a few days ago gave this long-time fan goosebumps! Killer of Killers will be released on June 6, and Badlands will be on Nov 7. Dan Trachtenberg is the creative mind behind both works, and it’s about time someone is handling this IP rather than random individuals hired to add their take on top. I have been enjoying the extended universe through Dark Horse Comics rather than the other company, and I suspect this filmmaker has done the same when considering the vibe I’m getting from the teaser.

Although the three stories introduced do not look like they connect on a narrative level, I’m still excited to wonder who will come out on top. The one I’m most eager for is the piece set during World War II; here, this pilot looks like he doesn’t belong in the fight. There may well be a bit of a Macross element put into it, and while he seems like a Hikaru Ichijyo wannabe who is wondering what happened to Roy Föcker, I am sure a lot of fancy stunt flying will be required to defeat this threat. The fight will take place in the skies, not on land!

Thankfully, the wait for this animated film won’t be long, and I’ll be tuning in as fast as I can for it.
