The Problems Defining the Age of Ultron, A Movie Review

Avengers-Age-Of-Ultron-Poster-2By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

* Spoiler Alert

The Avengers are back together for one final mission and what they’re looking for is Loki‘s sceptre. It contains a stone with a ‘mind’ of its own and since Winter Soldier, this film’s immediate predecessor, the country of Sokovia has become a place of interest for Earth’s mightiest heroes (and villains too) in Age of Ultron.

This film begins in the middle of the action director/writer Joss Whedon wastes no time in getting fans salivating at magnificent special effects and combat choreography. Between these set pieces are moments of exposition to tell a story about how Ultron (sweetly voiced by James Spader) gets created and what his goals are. He’s supposed to be part of a special global defence program that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) want to fully develop. What is born is the ultimate artificial intelligence that deems mankind is flawed.

Age of UltronAs the countdown for the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron begins, IMAX is certainly going to celebrate with the release of a keepsake poster to reward fans going to the April 30th screening. This company announced on Twitter last month that there are four images that they have commissioned, and the fans will get to vote on which one will get printed and distributed to theatre. Tying the Strings Back in Avengers: Age of Ultron’s Three Trailers

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

Just what can fans of Marvel Entertainment’s Avengers: Age of Ultron learn about this movie, due in theatres May 1st, now that all three trailers are out? One fact is certain: someone is pulling the strings that will see a new dawn (of enslavement) for all of humanity. Mutants will be revealed and a global watch dog system built by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) shows that Ultron will keep an eye at all the problems plaguing society.

However, there’s a secret figure who will emerge and it’s face looks like a red faced vision of hope — perhaps. This android was created by Ultron (voiced by James Spader) in the original 60’s comics to use against his creator, Dr. Hank Pym (Ant-Man). When considering that there is an Ant-Man movie being developed, just how much crossover potential will happen depends on how much retconning writer/director Joss Whedon has done to the Marvel Universe.

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron Gets a 2nd Trailer! Analysis

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

Hulk is very angry and he will smash in this new Avengers trailer that debuted today. Thor says, “You meddle into something that you don’t understand,” to Tony Stark and Black Widow says, “We have no place in the world.” Or was that Scarlet Witch? The latter makes more sense when mutants are feared and the world at large wants to dispense with them. When considering a young red haired lady is about to undergo an operation, could that be a lobotomy to erase some of her memories?

Just how much the X-Factor will play into this plot about the Avengers: Age of Ultron really needs to be asked. Could it be that Ultron wants to purge humanity and all its inherent problems to bring a new world order? The question of how Andy Serkis plays into this movie will have analysts wondering what kind of role he has. Speculation is saying he will be playing Ulysses Klaw, and this time he’s brandishing a gun in this new trailer. Ultron may well have allies to his cause, and that’s most likely the reason that Hulk is on the rampage and Iron Man in his Hulkbuster suit is coming out to do battle.

If viewers look carefully, his eyes are a raging red. They are not glowing or bloodshot, but that must indicate he’s under some kind of mind control. Ultron is getting sneaky! And certain seeds are being planted to indicate that yes, a civil war is coming.

In a World Where Pee Wee Herman Narrates the Avengers

By James Robert Shaw (The Wind up Geek)

Just when you’ve seen the trailer to The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie and thought it couldn’t get any cooler, think again.

Paul Reubens was a guest on the October 29th broadcast of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Reubens purpose was to promote the recently released DVD/Blu-ray box set of Pee Wee’s Playhouse from Shout Factory.

Viewers got more than they bargained when Reubens let loose his P-Man persona by taking a crack at a voice-over of one of the most watched film trailers on YouTube.

Let us take this one step further by considering the Playhouse gang cast in the roles of the Avengers; Miss Yvonne as Black Widow, Cowboy Curtis as Nick Fury, Conky as Iron Man, and Captain Carl as the Incredible Hulk.

I couldn’t see it a serious piece of course but as a comedy piece it would be brilliant. After all it worked for Welcome Back, Kotter’s Sweathogs in a parody of Pulp Fiction.
