Leonide The Vampyr Has Come Knocking at the House of Yonda in a Brand New Adventure!

Leonide the Vampyr returns with a new two-part story subtitled The House of Yonda, and her presence once again signals that something is waking. This child of the night brings omens wherever she goes — and the next instalment may finally reveal why.

Leonide The Vampyr The House of Yonda #1 coverDark Horse Comics

Legendary Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is teaming up with fan-favourite artist Rachele Aragno (Yuletide, Mel: The Chosen) to return to the world of their critically acclaimed Leonide the Vampyr with a new two-part comics event, subtitled House of Yonda, debuting on March 18, 2026. But for those unfamiliar with when she entered this world, it all started in Miracle at the Crow’s Head #1 (Oct. 5, 2022, Kindle).

She’s discovered after a shipwreck, and little does anyone realise what her arrival truly means. In A Christmas for Crows #1 (Dec. 14, 2022, Kindle), a holiday-tinged horror fable, mountain folk find a ruined carriage and a coffin that leads them into far darker company than expected. Yes — it’s this girl.

When Italy’s Giuseppe Manunta Has His Sights on Hellboy!

This summer, fans of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and Giuseppe Manunta’s visual talent can see a union of the beast as they hit the beach for this fun filled tale!

Hellboy and Giuseppe ManuntaRelease Date:
August 27, 2025

Although artist Giuseppe Manunta may be unknown to the mainstream, his contributions featured in Heavy Metal magazine and his graphic novels are very telling. This pin-up artist has quite the imagination, and he’s done many graphic novels (Amazon link) since. And when he says he wants to draw something for Dark Horse Comics / Mike Mignola, I’ll be looking forward to the release of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone.

When he’s also contributed to the animated series Winx, I’m glad he’s not limiting himself to specific genres. This French production has a very distinctive style to it and to be part of that team of storyboard artists and costume designers had me tuning in! For this particular upcoming comic book,  when an octopus is somehow involved, I’m curious! The season to go play at the beach is nearly here, and the release date is rather timely. After looking at Monster from the Ocean Floor (movie review) recently. I have to wonder….

From the Press Release:

“I’m a big fan of Giuseppe’s work,, so I was thrilled when he told me he wanted to do a Hellboy story—The only problem was that I had sort of (finally) run out of Hellboy stories,” says Mike Mignola. ”My head is so much in my new LANDS UNKNOWN series now that for a while I was really drawing a blank.

Bowling With Corpses Is A Whole Lotta Fun and Fairytale Packed In A Big Book!

Fans of Mike Mignola’s work should really check out Bowling With Corpses and Other Strange Tales From Lands Unknown. It’s a wonderful collection of short stories set in a brand new universe he and his frequent collaborators are making!

Bowling with Corpses and Other Strange Tales TPDark Horse Comics

Mike Mignola’s Bowling With Corpses and Other Strange Tales From Lands Unknown is getting a second printing! Considering the rather macabre sport, I suspect no board game or role-playing system is in the works. Here, the title offers an idea which I consider is nothing like the games we know, like bunnock. Their bones are representations of soldiers or something else.

With this book, the influences are very central European. I often cite Brothers Grimm as a primary influence and here, the tale is no holds barred. The first chapter introduces Yeb the Spoon leaving home to seek his fortune, and who he meets to earn his first coin are three animated corpses! Whether or not they are meant to represent the Fates, my guess is yes! His challenge is to roll a skull at a bunch of bones and make most of them fall.

Hunting for Demons in Frankenstein: New World’s Next Chapter

Much has happened with fixing up what’s considered official for Mike Mignola’s version of Frankenstein for Dark Horse Comics. And in a world without Hellboy, he may well be this New World’s saviour!

Frankenstein- New World—The Sea of ForeverDark Horse Comics

Some knowledge is required to understand why Frankenstein exists. He’s replaced Hellboy in this New World series of comics being helmed by Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, and Thomas Sniegoski. This monster has grown beyond what readers know from Mary Shelly’s work and “officially” took on his creator’s name… And I suspect he’ll become more than an Oracle to the survivors of “Ragna Rok.” Officially, the only canonical material readers need to know are Frankenstein Underground and New World.

While mutants run amok on the surface, in the Hollow Earth, the last survivors of humanity live in peace. It is here where Lilja, a young girl, is worried about her people’s future. As a result, she wants to speak to the oracle (Frankenstein) to alert him of this fate. When he’s in a state of meditation, many people have left him alone, but when the shouting match is loud enough, he’s awake. She hopes he can investigate and also tag along.

It’s Just Classic Toho Fun with Giant Robot Hellboy!

The concept behind this Giant Robot Hellboy is simple. It brings some of that classic Pacific Rim vibe into what is otherwise a Toho film featuring a certain other big G….

Giant Robot Hellboy #1 Comic Book CoverDark Horse Comics
Spoiler Alert

Kaiju fans will love everything Mike Mignola has dreamed up in Giant Robot Hellboy. This story is inspired by the sketches he drew and got published in The Quarantine Sketchbook, and due to demand, he’s crafted an excellent story that blends Japanese style action to a familiar concept.

The first issue sets up something that I would expect in Patrick McGoohan’s The Prisoner. He gets a phone call and soon gets gassed. After passing out, he’s whisked away by unknown agents to some bunker, where he’s hooked up to various neural devices. As for the mysterious giant box, all I see is that it’s destined to some island said to be located east of Africa.
