Picking Away At What Makes Ghostbusters Frozen Empire’s World Building Right and A Fan Theory for Part Three

Just what makes Ghostbusters Frozen Empire better than Afterlife is that it’s an original idea, but it should’ve been two movies than one.

Ghostbusters Frozen EmpireSpoiler Alert

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire is a satisfying continuation of Phoebe Spengler’s (Mckenna Grace) coming of age tale. Although she’s ready to continue the family legacy after learning about her grandfather’s exploits, not everyone agrees. Her new father, Gary (Paul Rudd), has to set boundaries and when he grounds her for other reasons, she’s ready to lash out. Nobody understands her, except for a lost spirit she befriends.

According to We Minored in Film, Reitman knew Ramis has a flair for grounding comedy in reality which made him the perfect person to overhaul Aykroyd’s initial concept. What he injected is a sense of why this brotherhood matter, and this latest has its moments to remind audiences family togetherness is just as important too. As for Egon, nobody knew he left his wife. To acknowledge his lost family connections is only fitting and feels like a logical choice to move the franchise forward.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – How Cold Can It Get In NYC?

Although this teaser trailer to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is meant to be just that, the hints it offers suggests that unless the team can put the heat back, Manhatten is the last place to experience the next Ice Age!

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Movie PosterThe largest takeaway from the teaser trailer of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is that something from the Arctic is coming to invade New York! Just what that isn’t the return of the Titanic. That boat isn’t in the running because of what the first film alluded to, so those spirits are probably at peace. And I doubt there’s a malicious force wanting to claim what’s lost decades ago, since it wouldn’t make sense for a continuation.

Instead of simply offering a trailer breakdown, what I offer are my theories on what this fourth film might be about. The ice theme is everywhere, and it might allude to one historical incident from long ago concerning lost sailors. Since the threat is coming from the sea, that must mean someone there is eying the invading New York. According to the official synopsis, “When the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

It’s A Bold New Ghostbusters Afterlife

Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009) is an unofficial third film that’s fun to play and perhaps was a massive influence to the events occuring in Ghostbusters Afterlife

Lightning cracks from dark green clouds. People get out of a battered 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel below and look on.Spoiler Alert

The first Ghostbusters film is a beloved introduction to a ragtag group of scientists kicked out of university for their questionable belief in ghosts. And when they gathered enough spectral data to realize its possible to contain these spirits, this gang turn their idea into a business since they are considered ‘pests.’ With Ghostbusters Afterlife, that story continues.

To recap the first film,  the lovely Dana Barrett hired this team to figure out why her apartment is spook central, and the god they prevented from appearing closed off the movie. Paranormal activity still took place throughout New York State, but it wouldn’t really pick up again until five years have passed.

It wasn’t until Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore had to deal with the spirit of a mad despot trapped in a painting when things truly quieted down. Spengler wasn’t ready to rest and even after this case, he knew there was a grande scheme happening while his teammates believed it was over. Flash forward to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, not everyone remembers the events from decades ago and we see him out on his own, dealing with a huge supernatural threat.
