A Fan Expo Update. From Portland to Vancouver and Beyond, Big Half-Sized Talents Are Everywhere!

Fan Expo Vancouver is pulling double duty for fandom this year, bringing together Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings, the original TMNT movie cast, and a possible Smallville reunion that could make this guest lineup unforgettable.

Fan Expo ALLBeginning with Fan Expo Portland (Jan 16-18, 2026), attendees can meet the Hobbits from The Lord of the Rings and our favourite live-action Heroes in a Half Shell (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) all at once. Over the month of November, the event brand announced a celebration tour that will bring Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan together for a ticketed experience, An Evening with the Hobbits: In Celebration of 25 Years. This special event will appear at all Fan Expos across North America. Space is limited due to venue constraints, and a few additional rows may be added closer to the event date for latecomers.

Elijah Wood must have enjoyed playing Strawn Wise, a has-been stage magician, in Bookworm. This hilarious family film by Ant Simpson sees him doing what I feel is his best Johnny Depp impression as a misfit father from America trying to do what’s right. Technically, Mildred (Nell Fisher is perfect in this role) takes the lead in this New Zealand adventure comedy, as she has a know-it-all attitude despite having lived a rather sheltered life. True to this film’s namesake, she’s a nerd.

And that’s not the reason Wise abandoned her. Although the backstory felt very compressed, I’ll be watching this film again as soon as it hits theatres later this year. That’s because I want to know how he heard about his wife getting ill. As for showing up out of the blue, he’ll have to convince more than one guardian that he’ll do what’s right.

Vin Diesel plays Kaulder, a role-playing character turned into a cinematic one, out to destroy all witches. This ranger-class warrior hunts them down because he believes most of them are inherently evil. In the film, they were once led by a queen bent on destroying all of humanity. When she was defeated long ago, she cursed Kaulder to eternal life and he’s fated to roam the earth like a Wandering Jew.
