Superman Unveiled: A Brilliant New Beginning for the DC Universe!

This review and analysis of James Gunn’s Superman examines its strengths and weaknesses. Despite curious role shifts, what’s offered is as inherently good as reading an Alan Moore comic book.

Superman (2025) posterSpoiler Alert

Dissecting the text that begins James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s restart of Superman (2025) reveals a grand vision. Even with some unusual choices in supporting roles to introduce this tale, this movie is terrific for fans of the “Gods and Monsters” narrative arc as they reinvent what the animated film, Justice League: Gods and Monsters tried a decade ago. Alan Burnett and Bruce Timm packed a lot of ideas into a 75 minute film. I loved it, but sadly, the reception for it was poor. Even though the ideas continued to be explored in future DC Comics / Warner Bros. releases, not every work was as hardcore. Top 10 Animated Movies to Look Forward to in 2025

To decide on which animated movies are a must isn’t too hard to decide on. When pickings can be somewhat limited in the cinematic front, we’re diving into streaming and direct to video offerings too.

Aztec Batman- Clash of Empires - Animated MoviesInstead of looking at the animated movies coming to cinemas, what I offer is a list of works expected to be released this year from abroad and in America. There are some wonderful works that should be great, and the big question will concern whether the two major distributors, GKIDS or Well GO USA, will pick them up. They’re still working through last year’s catalogue of releases. Trailers are provided where possible:

Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires

This Elseworlds take on Batman lore promises to be good because it’s also connected to a bit of Mesoamerican folklore concerning the bat. Both Aztec and Mayan cultures hold this creature sacred, representing various Underworld aspects. Here, instead of focusing on the Wayne family, another clan’s parents are killed, and Yohualli Coatl enacts swift revenge!

Here, the conquistadors are not the only threat. No Batman adaptation is complete without The Joker! As for how he got reimagined, much has been spoiled in other reports, and it’s better to be surprised.

After 3 Episodes of My Adventures with Superman, Who is the Focus?

When all the past lore gets tossed out the window, we have a very different take on what makes My Adventures With Superman great.

My Adventures With Superman PosterMy Adventures with Superman is a very different take on the lore, and for fans of high school style anime, there’s lots to like. It’s being animated by South Korean Studio MIR, and that’s okay. As for those who watched Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s material, it’s not as sexy. However, I will keep looking for that silver lining. That’s because Lois Lane’s persona is more inspired from the classic Japanese Animation young independent stereotypes, instead of a hard-nosed reporter. To see her and Clark often blush is not to my liking. As a result, this North American icon is hardly that anymore.

Here, all the characters are beginning their careers at the Daily Planet as interns and none of them have earned their wings. Instead of fostering Clark Kent (voiced by Jack Quaid) and Lois Lane’s (Alice Lee) relationship, the two are crushing on each other like teenagers. In regard to Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid), whom I thought would be the focus, he’s barely the star. Thus, had the story perspective been more about this cub photographer, then I’d get why this latest from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment is called My Adventures…, rather than My Secret Identity as Superman.
