Huzzahs and hurrahs was no doubt heard throughout San Francisco and on the Internet when young Miles Scott heard the pleas from Chief of Police Greg Suhr and went out to save the day! Everyone was with him at every step of the way, and a lot of people world-wide were no doubt watching. As it turns out, the Penguin and Riddler got involved, and Bat-Kid (Miles) did more than his civic duty to prevent crime from spreading across Gotham …

And good news are indeed on top of this week as various reports have come in to tell the world that young Scott is on the path of recovery. Over at Otaku no Culture, we wish him nothing but the best! Good times and bright times are in store for you, Caped Crusader!

Influential Comic Book Artist, Nick Cardy, Dies

NickCardy1Nick Cardy, famed DC comic book artist and war veteran passed away in Florida’s Sarasota Memorial Hospital, he was 93.

According to Comicbook.com, The Perhapanauts artist Craig Rosseau told fans two days ago via Facebook that Cardy had been admitted to the Intensive Care Ward, and asked for thoughts and prayers. Later, The Perhapanauts writer Todd Dezago shared a status from his niece, who said that Cardy’s heart and lungs had fluid in them. According to Dezago’s niece, Dezago has flown down to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital to see Cardy.

Superman Celebrates 75 Years With Special Treats This Month

I have to say this, but Superman is a partially Canadian invention, and he’s being honoured with several 75th anniversary commemorative coins by the Royal Canadian Mint this year.

Cleveland born Jerry Siegel and Toronto born Joe Shuster created this iconic character, and their simple ideals were at the forefront of what the Golden Age character was like. Superman’s ideals hardly ever changed in comic-book land. While the films took on a different front, that’s hardly the point of what I found great about this superhero. He’ll always be the ideal boy scout. This hero is supposed to represent the best of what the United States of America should be like. And I’ll leave the commentary about current political climate out of this exposition.

So just where is the new Teen Titans “Going?”

The original Teen Titans was fun, and had connected with those who followed the comic books. In Go, not so much.

Banner2Teen Titans GO! marks the return to TV of a team of young superheroes from the early 2000’s series of a similar name. Based on characters from DC Comics, this incarnation feels more a version of Big Brother with only the Sugar Plum Fairy watching over them. Raven (voiced by Tara Strong), Robin (Scott Menville), Starfire (Hynden Walch), Cyborg (Khary Payton), and Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) are roommates in Titans Tower. Even superheroes have their down time, and that’s when these cameras are rolling, observing their interactions during the mundane events of everyday life because nothing can turn a normal afternoon into chaos faster than five teens with superpowers and an affinity for hijinks.
