A Cat’s Life Isn’t For Everyone, But You’ll Purr at This One

This charming coming of age tale looks at not only A Cat’s Life but also that of a young girl whose parents are about to divorce. It’s all about how to adapt.

A Cat's Life Movie PosterAvailable to view on Apple TV

A Cat’s Life is a German made film finally making its way to screenings in other countries. It’s an adaptation of the novel “Rrou” by Maurice Genevoix and is nothing like Illumination’s The Secret Life of Pets (movie review). That’s because this story looks at what defines those relationships between animal and humankind. In this case, it’s about how Lou (as named by Clémence, played by Capucine Sainson-Fabresse) manages to win the hearts of viewers as she provides comfort to this young girl.

It’s sad to see that this kitty loses sight of his mother in the opening moments. Something happened, and he just left, to wander into the city streets and be found by a young girl. I hate to think there’s a sadder element as there’s no dialogue to explain what happened to his siblings and mother. What’s implied is very sad, and I hope the family survives. Godzilla x Kong The New Empire, A Review and Thoughts the Monsterverse’s Future

After all that’s sand and done in Godzilla X Kong The New Empire, is it really over after Dr., Ilene says humanity must learn how to live with the Titans?

Godzilla x Kong The New Empire Movie PosterGodzilla x Kong The New Empire isn’t the best followup to a new set of films about these two titans begrudgingly working together. That’s because I’ve seen half the ideas before. The one about Kong exploring Hollow Earth and earning his place in ape society is to be expected. Elsewhere, when the trailers show Godzilla aware an unknown threat is coming, he’ll have to power up in order to defeat it. As for whom he targets and how savage he is, that’s the only part I truly liked.

And because I read Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong the night before, I get the sense fans are being groomed for what’s to come. In the Monsterverse, superheroes do not exist. Having people in power armour does, and when considering Mecha Godzilla was introduced the prior film, I suspect putting a human in battle armour ala Pacific Rim can make anyone look super powered like Lex in his giant robot! If my theory is true, I’ll keep watching despite how repetitive the ideas are getting in setting up the future for this franchise.

Exhuma. Lest We Forget, or Forgive. Can The Spirit of Korea Recover?

Before Korea was divided into two nations, there was a time when everyone fought for the same thing and what Exhuma examines is a mix of horror and history.

Exhuma (파묘) is one of those rare gems which mixes in folk horror with history, and what’s exhumed for audiences to worry about concerns a terror that must be put back in its place, lest more innocent souls get destroyed. In this film’s case, there’s also a sense of unearthing tensions its citizens had when concerning their relation with the Japanese.

Some ancient spirit hates the Ji-young family, and Park (Kim Jae-cheol) hopes to end the curse once and for all. He hires a locally renowned occultist Hwa-rim (Kim Go-eun) and Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun) to basically do some ghostbusting. Unlike other works which are steeped in made up lore, this one is steeped in animism and folklore. It gives this film an air of credibility where even I felt at ease. Although the later act gets fanciful, the nuances still make me think twice when disturbing a grave a night!

It started in 2010 as a television program which aired on different networks over the years, and some may wonder how some individuals got here? WWE Next Gen aims to answer that, and show how tough it is to become a celebrity wrestling superstar. It’s really about how to present yourself to others and anyone watching this reality TV program may well learn a thing or two on when it’s okay to be a douche and when it’s not.
