When I last wrote a retrospective that included the latest status of the Wild Arms franchise, not much has changed. Although the original is available on the PlayStation5, sadly no one is interested in continuing. There was a Wild Arms Mobile and Million Memories for smartphones, but sadly when it didn’t get translated and offered to an international market, the game died. Thankfully, executive producer Akifumi Kaneko is not letting the world he helped create fade. In its place is a spiritual successor titled Armed Fantasia, which is still in development.
Wild Bunch Productions announced this game in 2022. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, this new studio promised to have it available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The expansion of platforms is terrific for those people who do not have the latest game gear.
Also, a lot of the original staff are here to ensure honouring the world that once was. You can find the latest video clips showing this game’s current state on this company’s YouTube page. In this upcoming product, players start with Ingram Goodweather, Alicia Fairhead, and Euclid Sturges. Other allies will join in this fight!
In the real world, Michiko Naruke and Noriyasu Agematsu are orchestrating the music, and credits goes to Tomomi Sasaki for these character designs. The title song is “Limitless,” sung by Kaori Asoh and if that’s not enough to whet fans’ appetite, the teaser trailer looks fantastic!
The album’s full release will be in March 2025. In the meantime, fans can enjoy a selected list on SoundCloud. It’s expanded on the traditional western motifs found in many a soundtrack, and for those who love Spanish guitars also played, everything fans want for music is present!
