Dear Santa,
Yes I know this letter is late, very very late, and I hope I can still get a surprise come Christmas day.
Before I take a break from this blog for a much needed R&R, I have to write to someone about all thats transpired in the past year. It’s been tough because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some folks have changed their behaviours and others have gone into hiding until authorities say it’s safe to resume a different kind of normal.
I’m surviving and consider this season a time of hope. Yes, you’ve heard all this goodwill ambassador stuff before but I feel the world really needs it as we go into this new decade. 2021 won’t feel too different. With a tentative vaccine not everyone will want, I’m debating it. I miss my comic book conventions. I’m glad to have taken on all of Fan Expo Vancouver before the lockdown, and if any shows take place at the end of the new year, I believe it’ll be one of trepidation. I’ll sound off on this in a different editorial though.
All I ask for, if possible, is for you is to give that jolly feeling of hope that you so represent so everyone can have a happy new year.
But as a nerd. I must include the obligatory list of items I’d love to receive. Topping this list is:
Cthulhu Beanie
It’s hard to say if this beanie will keep away the Covid-19 virus, but I think I can modify it so it can accept an internal filter. Not only will all those tentacles keep those germs at bay, but I’m sure anyone spotting me from a distance will steer away from me period. I’ll be safe no matter what! Plus, it’ll keep my hands and entire head warm!
For the rest of my body, I’m sure this TARDIS Robe will keep me toasty warm. I love my current time travelling throw blanket, but it’s easy to trip over. If only it could take me to the future and show me when its we’re fully away from the pandemic’s grasp.
Well, its either this mask or Harry Potter’s Invisible Cloak–but where can I find one?
Official Ghostbusters Trap Incense Burner
Okay, if that doesn’t work, I’m sure this Ghostbusters themed incense burner and trap is perfect to fight the germs (and dust) and lock them away. It’s too cool not to have, and okay, I must admit–it won’t be available until after Christmas–but if you can work some magic, I’m sure I’ll make use of it on those nights for some blissful aromatherapy.

To have King Ghidorah in his deformed form as my new familiar would be perfect!
With a bit of magic, I’m sure I can animate this golem to protect me from harm and keep me warm at the same time. This item originally appeared in Diamond Distributing’s Previews catalogue April catalogue but since then, he’s gone into hiding! I suspect the factories did not manufacture as planned so there’s a delay. Having him appear for the Yuletide would be perfect. He can make sparks fly this holiday season.
Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit 4K
Yes, I know this ultimate collection won’t appear until later in 2021.
I’m finding the current release being offered to fans during this winter month won’t do. If I’m to be stuck at home, this mega series is perfect to check out with my new home 4K home theatre! I can’t think of anything long with Peter Jackson’s take of J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece.
Plus, with all the new bonus material coming, it’ll take time to watch it all!
