It’s nothing but Scooby Doo style fun for the comedian and YouTuber making his own film, titled Onyx the Fortuitous And The Talisman of Soul!

Real life YouTube occult celebrity Onyx the Fortuitous has a movie, and the brilliant mind behind this horror comedy is Andrew Bowser. After a successful crowdfunding campaign to get this film made, he’s ecstatic to play an evolution of what Marcus J. Trilbury should become. At the start of the film, he’s basically a nobody. In the eyes of his mean step-father, he’s insignificant. That also includes how he’s treated at a burger joint.

Technically, he’s a diamond in the rough and he wishes to do better. To see this character involved in a plot which includes the title “And The Talisman of Souls” suggests he’ll be going far should he make this item his own.

Here, what’s presented isn’t an evolution of his internet show. Instead, it’s a story that takes the character out of the world of YouTube and into a hyper reality where magik exists. And he’ll have to confronting his demons if he’s to become the fortunate one.

How to Survive Black Friday with Bruce Campbell

This movie sets up a potential to go further with this story. We know little about why these invaders have hit the planet on Black Friday.

In the movie Black Friday, the shambling beasts people can become simply consume, mutate, multiply and destroy. It all takes place on the day after American Thanksgiving. It’s amusing to see a commentary on rabid consumerism take on a different meaning. The idea is not new. George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead was the first; instead of an invasion upon a mall, this film sees a big box operations as the true threat.

With Bruce Campbell playing Jonathan Wexler, the store manager, I can’t help but wonder if an early draft was considering an Army of Darkness sequel. Instead of S-Mart, the terror comes to All-Mart. Instead of seeing this actor take the lead, he has a smaller part where he plays a schmuck who thinks he can retire after decades of service to this chain. I’m sure writer Andy Greskoviak wanted to try his hand at what could’ve been. Plus, a recent interview on Screen Rant said the man with the chin retired from that series.

[Fantasia 2021] Sympathy for the Devil in Frank and Zed

If Evil Dead II had a spiritual prequel, I’d say Frank and Zed is worthy to fill in the blanks in explaining where the Deadites come from!

Just when I thought The Barbarian and the Troll was hilarious, there’s a fantasy horror movie that takes gonzo to a whole new level. Frank and Zed is all about the let’s puke out the gore first and offer a Faustian story second. It’s a movie where the big climax will leave some viewers wanting to catch her breath.

Here, the focus is on two walking dead. Frank is a flesh golem needing a lot of power requirements. He’s basically a Frankenstein’s monster and all he does is go hunting for rodents and feed his zombie pal, Zed, their brains. This ghoul returns the favour by operating the generator to recharge the giant. They live in relative peace.

A Victorian Theatrical Halloween Guide 2019

Halloween has become synonymous with humanity’s once in the year obsession with all things occult. Whether that’s with ghosts, the macabre or fantastic beasts, folks celebrate it in myriad ways as part of this season’s tradition.

Not on this list are the traditional staples–ghostly walks, haunted fun houses and public ghost hunts–and I’m going for unique one offs. Included are theatre productions that are not rinse and repeat. Yes, while we all love to get our Rocky Picture Show on, and Atomic Vaudeville deserves special mention for putting on two different productions.

There’s a Full Moon Coming to … or Howling at Toronto!

Anyone looking for a howling good time with a highly anticipated cult movie sequel can see Another Wolfcop on Saturday, September 2 at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto, Ontario. This carnage comes courtesy of The Coup Company working with Fan Expo Canada and its multiple sponsors. This movie has screened at a few festivals with nothing but praise. Interestingly, no announcements were made if it will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival which is take place in this city a week later. Some nerds get all the luck instead of cinephiles.

People missing out may get another chance with Fan Expo Vancouver coming in November 10-12. No official word has been made yet, but for this fan, I’m hoping!
