Jackie Chan’s Ready to Rumble in 2023 with a Special Collection and Streaming Brawl-a-Thon

Shout! Factory is ready to release Jackie Chan in bluray with new extras and a streaming marathon!

On January 24, Shout! Factory will release The Jackie Chan Collection Vol 1 (1976-1982), a collection of seven classic films remastered on Blu-ray which showcase the unique mixture of martial arts, action, and comedy that has made Jackie Chan a cultural icon.

To add to the excitement, Shout! Factory TV will be celebrating the release by airing a special Jackie Chan Brawl-A-Thon (link) on January 28th beginning at 12pm PT/3pm ET. This martial arts extravaganza will stream simultaneously across Shout Factory TV, including the TokuSHOUTsu and Shout! Cult channels for 24 hours of your favorite kicks, flips, and Chan’s unique blend of hilarious comedy!

Cool World Collector’s Edition on Blu-Ray. How Hot Will it Be?

Cool World Collector’s Edition features a new 4k scan of the film from the original camera negative approved by Bakshi himself.

On September 13, 2002, Shout! Factory‘s release of Cool World Collector’s Edition on Blu-Ray is certain to raise eyebrows.

This adult animation won’t be for everyone. Unlike Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), it breaks the mould since not all cartoon movies were considered family friendly. It’s a black comedy from 1992 which predates Monkeybone (2001). And although the latter two were box office bombs during release, both have gained cult status since.

Plus, when David Bowie wrote a song for it, titled Real Cool World (see below), what could go wrong? It’s unfortunate that this music video isn’t included and the reason may be due to not having a high quality source to remaster from.

But for who can’t wait, this treat is looking like it’s best viewed on the Apple TV service. There’s a blooper reel that’s as hilarious as the hijinks that went on in the film. We have a well meaning tale about family togetherness that’s combined with multi-verse mayhem. A lot of comparisons have been said already concering a Marvel product, but in terms of which multiverse makes more sense, I’d say this work has an edge.
