Young children may well be buzzing in delight to know that more Maya the Bee movies is coming. The films are a guilty pleasure, sweetly cute and enduring. Shout! Factory has inked a deal with Studio 100 Media to continue distributing products under this line, beginning with the first sequel, Maya the Bee 2 – The Honey Game in 2017 through this company’s kids & family entertainment imprint, Shout! Factory Kids.

Over the last year, we enjoyed the continuing success and growing popularity of Maya the Bee – Movie with North American family audience,” stated Melissa Boag, Senior Vice President of Kids & Family Entertainment at Shout! Factory. “We look forward to bringing these exciting new films, starring the beloved character Maya, to a variety of entertainment distribution platforms.”

Maya the Bee Movie Buzzes into North America 2015!

Maya the Bee Movie will be buzzing into young North American hearts in 2015 thanks to Shout! Factory. This diminutive character perhaps became very popular due in part to the Japanese animation of the same name back in 1975. Since then it has been translated to many languages for airings in other countries. An updated CGI version returned to its fictional roots by animation production company Studio 100 in 2012. This series run lasted for 78 episodes and a film followed afterwards. Both are based on the book of the same name by German children’s author, Waldemar Bonsels.
