Riddick’s Future, A Movie Review and What’s Next?

Riddick Movie PosterRiddick may well be a reboot of a franchise that never fully took off back in the early 00’s. Its mass appeal was limited, and not everyone may understand what this anti-hero is all about. He has some moralistic sentimentalities and an origin story similar to Superman’s, but he is no goody-two-shoes. He has no qualms about killing.

Much of this film series bravado comes from the fact that a lot of people are cheering for a character who finds himself more often trapped in a life of unwanted scruitiny and misfortune. Riddick (Vin Diesel) is a character who may be the last of his kind; his world was destroyed by a Zhylaw, a Necromonger who feared a prophecy. Much like the ancient myths of yore, he commanded that all male firstborns on the planet Furya be killed. In Greek myth, the Titan Chronos ate Zeus, and in Biblical tradition, Moses was cast away on the river Nile only to be found and adopted into another culture before a rebellion broke out.

Riddick Film Q & A

Recently Nerd HQ held an exclusive panel involving the upcoming Riddick film. Actors Vin Diesel, Katee Sackhoff and director David Twohy sat in to answer questions from the fans.

Control was taken from the get go by Nerd HQ when a fan asked Vin about his involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy. Vin who replied he’s not supposed to say anything, hesitated long enough for the panel host to tell the audience there would be no spoilers.

The film Riddick opens in North American theatres on September 6th. It also stars Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, Conrad Pla and Karl Urban.
