Fans of the board game Arkham Horror can take delight in an adaptation that’s expanding the universe! Asmodee Entertainment and Dark Horse Comics have teamed up to present Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time. It’s the first comic-based addition to Fantasy Flight Games product, and no previous knowledge is really required. If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, that’s all you need to recognise.

Two versions of the game exist. In the tabletop edition, players have to work together to stop multi-dimensional entities from arriving on Earth. There’s been three editions, and each are different in a bizarre way which mostly concerns the rules. The setting remains the same and as for the card game, that’s where the confusion begins! Some say it’s the same thing but in a trading card game format, but others argue there’s enough differences where it’s not. All they can agree on is that the end goal is the same. If all you want is the story, then the latter has a lot more expansion material. And to bring it all together, Eisner Award-nominated master of horror, Cullen Bunn (Harrow CountyThe Sixth Gun), will write the four-issue miniseries.

Potential Spoiler Alert

Parts of the West Coast of North America may seem clear of the haze from the wildfires in California, but I see the future being presented to me sooner than I realize. All those orange hues in the sky certainly put me in the mood to look at the preview of issue #2, and thankfully we are not headed to that Blade Runner 2049 universe.

Well, not yet. If corporations are truly going to take over and put in measures to that future Cullen Bunn predicts in this comic, then we’re all doomed.

Cyberpunk 2077! On Trauma Team & Transhumanism

We’re not going to immediately see any of that fancy Netrunning stuff with this comic book series, but I’m willing to bet it’s coming! In the meantime, I expect Nadia is going to be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed and numbered!

SPOILER ALERT

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 Trauma Team does more than bring fond memories of why I love R. Talsorian’s roleplaying game of the same name. It has undergone many revisions, going from 2020 to Red (to keep the idea futuristic) and to see it finally come to a comic book is a cybernetic wet dream come true. Miguel Valderrama‘s artistic style and layouts tells long time fans of this world that he knows what fans want from a game that’s hasn’t gotten a lot of transition into other media. Jason Wordie‘s bold use of colours are exceptional. These two artists most likely examined what made collecting the books appealing before realizing Cullen Bunn’s tale to a smorgasbord of anime style action!

The video game is coming soon (November 19) and I’m ready to soak up any other material being released prior as my anticipation to ride the virtual information highway is already at an all time high!
