Retro Otaku Rejoice! Anime High School Kimengumi’s Music to be Re-released on CD!

Pony Canyon has announced they will be releasing a CD of previously published songs from the animated series High School! Kimengumi (1985-1987). The series based off the Weekly Shonen Jump publication (1982-1987) by Motoei Shinzawa spawned an animated film and video games on both the MSX2 and the Sony Playstation.

There were a large number of recurring characters but the show followed five junior high misfits of the funny face club (Mayunashi no Rei, Manako no Gō, Mukiba no Kiyoshi, Ebisu no Jin, and Ochobokō no Dai) and their two female friends (Kawa Yui and Uru Chie).

‘Restaurant to Another World’ Promotional Video Released!

Restaurant to Another World‘s (RTAW) anime television website released has released the 2nd promotional video to the series that begins airing July 4, 2017 on Tokyo MX. The series is based off Junpei Inuzuka’s light novel series, first serialized from January 4, 2013 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō.

The series takes place in a western cuisine restaurant located in the poorer section of a shopping district. The restaurant serves food to salarymen and everyday people during the work week. But this restaurant with the sign of a cat over the door is secretly open during the weekends where they serve an unusual menu to unusual customers.

3rd Trailer for Koi to Uso’s Animated Series Released!

Koi no Uso‘s official TV anime website released June 13th (Japan time) the third promotional trailer for the series based off the manga by Tsumugi Musawo. The story follows 15 year-old Yukari Nejima who can’t seem to get ahead in life athletically or academically. He lives in a near future Japan where lies and love are forbidden. At 16 years of age the Japanese Government chooses your life partner for better or worse but what happens when Nejima falls in love all on his own. Can he defy his own country’s laws?

The series first appeared as a manga on August 10, 2014 and is simultaneously published in Japanese, English, and Chinese on Kodansha Weekly Shonen Magazine’s DeNA Manga Box app. The series is also licensed in North America as Love and Lies through Kodansha Comics USA.

Wind Up Geek’s Cool Japan: Kanazawa’s Unmeltable Ice Creams is This Summer’s Treat

Citizens of Japan may suffer a hot melting summer this year but it doesn’t mean their ice cream has to. This year’s food science talk will be on the ummeltable ice creams, ice creams that will not melt in some of Japan’s hottest weather. The ice creams comes from two different developers and both will be sold in Kanazawa City, the city with the highest expenditure on ice cream in Ishikawa Prefecture.

Social Media Meme, Smug Wendy, Gets Her Own Anime Opening

If you’ve been following social media then you may know the back story to the Smug Wendy meme that has been making the rounds. If you don’t, the meme originated after an exchange on Twitter on April 10, 2017. It was the result of two corporate giants, two powerhouses in the world of the North American number one love, burgers. It all started when Twitter users @jstaff15 (Joey Staffileno) and @phelps_ryan (Ryan Phelps) debated which burger chains “4 for 4” deal was better, Wendy’s or Hardee’s. While Hardee’s was praising Phelps, Wendy’s was not without a retort.
