Classic shojo is getting a deluxe revival for a new generation of readers, as two publishing firms team up to bring Mann Izawa and Yumiko Igarashi’s manga Georgie to North America. This series was first serialized in Japan in 1982 and received a sizable following. It’s a coming-of-age follows Georgie, a lively young girl raised in the Australian countryside alongside her two older brothers. When she meets a young English nobleman named Lowell, her life takes an unexpected turn. Soon, she sets off to England discover her roots, and find a place to belong.

It’s heartwarming tale for those who read the foreign editions (available on Amazon). For newcomers, it’s not quite like MediaOCD’s ruined childhoods line of videeo releases. Insetead, it has its own course.

Readers will have their first opportunity to experience the series digitally through Omoi in Spring 2027, followed by two deluxe hardcover editions from Manga Mavericks Books, with the first volume arriving in August.
