AnimEigo and Otakon 2026 Home Video Announcements Galore: So What’s New?

Antique Bakery is a slice-of-life anime series about four men who work in a French bakery in Tokyo. It’s based on an acclaimed manga series created by Fumi Yoshinaga (Ooku: The Inner Chambers, What Did You Eat Yesterday?) that won a Kodansha Manga Award for best shojo manga. The 2008 TV anime ran for 12 episodes on Fuji TV’s late-night Noitamina block, following an earlier live-action drama adaptation from 2001. AnimEigo will release the series on Blu-ray in 2027.

Dog of Flanders: The Movie is a 1997 remake of the classic 1975 anime series about the bond between a boy and his faithful dog living in a 19th century Flanders village near Antwerp. The emotional story shows the boy’s struggles in life and his hopes of becoming a great classical painter. Both the original series and the film trace back to Ouida’s 1872 novel A Dog of Flanders.

This work will offer a fresh 4K Blu-ray restoration featuring both the uncut original Japanese cut and the edited Pioneer English dub, which notably features actor Robert Loggia as Grandpa Jehan Daas.

ReLIFE is a 2016 comedy series about Arata Kaizaki, a 27-year-old unemployed man who joins an experimental rehabilitation program for shut-ins. He takes a special drug to look 10 years younger and returns to high school for one year to fix his life. ReLIFE is based on the manga by creator Yayoiso.

Crunchyroll originally streamed the series with subtitles, and Funimation later added an English dub, but the show has been out of print for years since. AnimEigo will release the 13-episode series and the 4-episode OVA in a new comprehensive edition that includes both the sub and dub.

Ruin Explorers: Fam & Ihrie is a 4-part adventure OVA originally released in 1995. Set in an alternate fantasy world, it follows Fam and Ihrie, two female treasure hunters working to find the “Ultimate Power.” The OVA was written and directed by Takeshi Mori (Gunsmith Cats, Otaku no Video, Vandread) and features music by Masamichi Amano (Battle Royale, Giant Robo).

ADV Films first put the series out on DVD back in 2000 and again in 2004, with Maiden Japan reissuing it in 2013, so AnimEigo’s release will mark its first HD upgrade. It arrives on Blu-ray with a crisp restoration in 2027.

Welcome to Irabu’s Office is a 2009 Japanese anime series directed by Kenji Nakamura (Mononoke) and produced by Toei Animation, based on Hideo Okuda’s acclaimed Psychiatrist Irabu short story collection. It follows the eccentric, childlike psychiatrist Dr. Ichiro Irabu as he treats various patients with bizarre physical manifestations of psychological stress. The series originally aired on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block, and AnimEigo’s Blu-ray will mark its first-ever home video release in North America when it debuts in 2027.
