Baby Star Ramen’s mascot, Bei-chan, is to be retired by the Oyatsu Company Ltd. and new mascot, Hoshio-kun will be gracing the packages of Japan’s popular snack food which has sold nationwide since 1959. Announced at a press conference, Hoshio-kun’s first commercial (CM) appearance will be with fashion model and pop singer Natsume Mito advertising Baby Star’s newest snack food, Baby Star Panmen. The commercial will be broadcast nationwide in Japan from February 6th.
Mito appears in the commercial doing an upbeat dance while eating Baby Star Panmen. The music in the background is Mito’s tie-in track titled “Hanabira” and will be released individually by Mito on February 22nd. The track was produced by DJ, composer and songwriter Yasutaka Nakata. Nakata is a member of Japanese electronica band Capsule and has produced for such acts as Perfume, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, and SMAP. Choreography for the commercial was by FISHBOY of RADIO FISH.
Natsume Mito is under contract to Sony Music Labels Associated Records label. She is managed by artist management company ASOBISYSTEM.
