Many of our readers remember the 80’s and if you do then you will definitely remember M.A.S.K. For those who are too young, M.A.S.K. was a powerhouse animated series, comic and toy line. The series revolved around a covert team called M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand). And at this team’s disposal were specialized vehicles and powerful helmets used to fight V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem).
But for every good animated series you need a really good opening song and a really good ending song doesn’t hurt either. The M.A.S.K. intro song ranks highly among 80’s cartoon fans. It’s as memorable as themes from the Mighty Orbots, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers and Thundercats. I can’t find the name of the person who sang the original song (if anyone knows, please tell me) but this new version does the original justice.
Charley Corbiaux, a former guitarist and vocalist with the French heavy metal band Heavenly, offers up some very powerful vocals for the theme song. It takes M.A.S.K. to a whole new level. I can only hope that if ever Kenner brings M.A.S.K. back to television in a reboot or a continuation, Corbiaux’s version of the opening song could be used.
