About Aria the Animation
Originally airing in 2005, Aria the Animation is based on Kozue Amano’s manga series Aria. Set in the 24th century on the terraformed planet Aqua—formerly Mars—the story follows Akari Mizunashi, a cheerful young woman who trains to become an Undine (gondolier) in the city of Neo-Venezia. The series is celebrated for its peaceful pacing, breathtaking visuals, and heart-soothing storytelling. Its reflective tone and gentle humour make it a cornerstone of the “healing anime” genre, inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate the beauty in everyday life.
