Discotek Media recently had anime fans jumping for joy on March 3rd with the announcement of the upcoming DVD release of the entire Go Shogun (戦国魔神ゴーショーグン) series (known originally in North America as Macron 1), but now news on April 13th of the release of one OVA and three animated television series, there are many who will be preparing to make as much shelf room as possible for their latest Discotek treasures.
Discotek Media will be releasing on July 26, 2017 the 1985 animated series Choujuu Kishin Dancouga (超獣機神ダンクーガ), known in North America as Super Beast Machine God Dancouga, 1999’s Masou Kishin Cybuster (魔装機神サイバスター) AKA Psybuster, Waga Seishun no Arcadia – Mugen Kido SSX (わが青春のアルカディア 無限軌道SSX) AKA Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX from 1982, and the 1989 OVA series Midnight Eye (ゴクウ) AKA Midnight Eye: Goku.

Super Beast Machine God Dancouga
From deep in outer space the Emperor Muge plots his next conquest, that of the planet Earth. With power-hungry Shapiro Keats turned Empire informer, Earth’s armies seem to be unable to stop Muge’s forces of indestructible robots. But now from a secret laboratory under a lake in Japan comes a top-secret project, the secret weapon called Super Beast Machine God. Piloted by an ace pilot named Shinobu, Sara (Shapiro’s one-time girlfriend) , and Ryo, a very unlikely young hero, the team appears to be the only ones standing in the way of Muge’s complete domination of Earth and it’s people.
Starring Kazuki Yao as Shinobu Fujiwara, Yuriko Yamamoto as Sara Yuki, Shigeru Nakahara as Masato Shikibu, and Kaneto Shiozawa as Ryo Shiba.
Direction and character design by Nobuyoshi Habara. Theme song performed by Rie Fujiwara.
This complete TV series of 38 episodes will be released in remastered format on DVD with English subtitles.
Psybuster
Loosely based on the characters from the Super Robot Wars video game, the animated TV series takes place in the Tokyo of 2040, where constant pollution and a series of mysterious earth quakes have left the city the metropolis in ruins. In all of this, a young man named Ken Ando is training hard to join the DC, a militaristic organization designed to investigate and protect the environment.
When Ando is cut from DC due to poor performance, he tries to prove himself worthy of a place by doing battle with a mysterious mech from another world that is destroying DC’s ranks. Little does Ando realize, his fate and the fate of the Earth are connected to this new foe.
Starring Yuusei Oda as Ken Ando and Yuki Masuda as Mizuki Kamijo. Episodes directed by Hidehito Ueda and Hiroyuki Tsuchiya. Theme song performed by Masaaki Endoh (former member of the Metal Brothers and a founder of JAM Project).
All 26 episodes will be released on DVD. The series can be viewed in its original Japanese language format with English subtitles or with English dubbing.
Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX
Endless Orbit SSX takes place after the film Arcadia of My Youth (魔装機神サイバスター) but is a loose prequel to Galaxy Express 999 (銀河鉄道999) and Space Pirate Captain Harlock (宇宙海賊・キャプテンハーロック). in this series Harlock and the crew of the space ship Arcadia have found themselves banished from Earth after it is conquered by the Illumidus Empire, a race of humanoids that enslave and destroy inhabitable planets in their path. While new allies join Harlock in his fight against the Illumidus, Harlock and his crew search for Arcadia, a mythical “Planet of Peace” where all people of the universe can live freely and without war.
Starring Makio Inoue as Captain Harlock, Reiko Takima as Emeraldas, Kei Tomiyama as Tochirou Ooyama, and Reiko Mutou as Maya. Direction is by Tomoharu Katsumata with music by Kouhei Tanaka.
This complete series will be released for the first time in North America on DVD and will be available in its original Japanese language with English subtitles.
Midnight Eye: Goku
Police officers investigating a businessman for arms dealing are taking their own lives. Enter private detective Goku, former policeman and friend of the officers who are dropping like flies from acts of suicide. He suspects there is more to these deaths but his investigation is interrupted by a naked female with a plume of hypnotic feathers prompting Goku to stab one of his own eyes to save his life.
When Goku awakes he’s found a mysterious organization has installed a new eye that not only connects to the world’s network of computers, he can also control them. Now with revenge on his mind, Goku plans to uncover just who is behind murders of his former colleagues.
Starring Shigeharu Matsura as Goku Fuurinji, Directed by Yoshiaki Kowajiri. Based off the manga by Buichi Terasawa with script by Ryuuzou Nakanishi. Ending theme performed by Yuki Katsuragi.
The complete OVA series will be released on DVD in both Japanese with English subtitles and English dubs.
