NECA Toys is looking to make collectors’ heads spin with an announcement of their latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) sculpts. Due to make their debut at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), these TMNT figures are modeled after the smash 1989 Konami co-op arcade game. Figures are available in a 4-pack that when opened will recreate the look of the original arcade cabinets. The Turtle pack comes with Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. The Foot Clan pack will contain Shredder and three of his Foot Soldiers, each Foot Soldier is painted a unique colour that reflects their in-game appearance.

“Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael stand approximately 6” tall and feature over 30 points of articulation, including double knee joints to fully showcase their mastery of the martial arts. Special paint deco reflects the Turtles’ in-game appearance. The box set is packed with accessories, including signature weapons, interchangeable hands, pizza power-up and more. The set comes in gorgeous, display-friendly 5th panel window box packaging that re-creates the look of the actual arcade cabinet!”

“This SDCC-exclusive box set is based on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4-player co-op arcade game and features brand new figure sculpts and deluxe packaging. Shredder and the Foot Clan stand approximately 6” tall and feature over 30 points of articulation, including double knee joints for dynamic poses. Special paint deco reflects their in-game appearance. The box set is packed with accessories, including oversized hammer, swords, throwing star, rifle, dynamite and more. The set comes in gorgeous, display-friendly 5th panel window box packaging that re-creates the look of the actual arcade cabinet!”

According to NECA, due to licensing restrictions by the parent companies (Nickelodeon and perhaps Playmates), these figures will only be a SDCC exclusive and will not be made available through retail outlets. As NECA tweeted out earlier:

per the licensing agreement we are not permitted to sell them at anywhere but the con

To prevent scalping there will be a limit of 2 packs per per customer and valid photo ID must be presented in order to purchase. Each pack will retail at approximately $100 US per. Customers can either pre-order online and pick-up from SDCC or purchase from NECA’s table at the con, while supplies last.

This means, that as a Turtle fan, you’ll have a small window of opportunity to buy your figures. And if you can’t make it to SDCC you’ll have to find other arrangements or be forced to “shell” out more money on eBay.
