Snoke: “There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?”
Ren: “Yes.”
Snoke: “Even you have never faced such a test.”
Ren: “It is time.”
And with those words from Supreme Leader Snoke (played by Andy Serkis) to Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) we start this newest trailer off with a bang. So far much of what we have seen has been character development but this trailer gives us a taste of how epic many of the battles will be both in the air and on land. We also get a peek at the “Starkiller Base”, the home base of the First Order, an army based off of the Galactic Empire.
“Starkiller Base” is covered in snow much like Hoth was in The Empire Strikes Back. In the early days of shooting actor Sir Roger Moore’s described the location while appearing on the Graham Norton Show. It made one think Star Wars would revisit the planet. Word was buzzing that perhaps the need to see Hoth again in the Force Awakens story was because Luke Skywalker was contemplating in solitude there. In an article dated February, 2015 on MakingStarWars.net it was rumoured “Starkiller Base” was called “RYOOME” on several production documents. In the film “Starbase Killer” is used to detect and seek out jedi. But who, we ask has been detected? Who has been awakened?
