Just who is Dory remembering? Viewers will pick up on the fact that this regal blue tang fish is remembering her mother in her sleep in PIXAR / Disney‘s first trailer in the sequel, Finding Dory, due in theatres June 17, 2016.

This teaser shows that the story picks up months after the events in the first film, Finding Nemo, and as life in the Great Barrier Reef settles down. More adventures are to come when Dory starts to recall parts of her youth when she’s awake. She will no doubt set off (on her own) to discover where her family went.

This means travelling afar to find a “jewel” that will aid her on this quest. Just like Nemo, she will meet other sea life while Nemo and Marlin will have to tag along to help keep her focussed. Their trip is going to send them to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Rsearch Institute, located in California (if the online unofficial synopsis is to be believed), to find this object. She might have muttered Monterey in her sleep, but that was not entirely audible. Had the place been the Sausalito Museum located in Marin County as depicted in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, that could have made for a great in-joke. In real life, this location is the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

This animated movie will see the return of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks and Willem Dafoe. They will be joined by Hayden Rolence, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Ty Burrell, Kaitlin Olson and Ed O’Neill. Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane also returns to direct this feature.
