The videogame Disney Infinity 3.0 is putting emphasis on bringing Star Wars to its sandbox world. The sculpts for the figures themselves look great, and that alone makes buying the game in part worthwhile. Nor does everyone wondering how the figures will look will find a version that they will like. Some eyes are wondering if this version of Leia will be as perky as the one Gentle Giant made (most likely not).

Also, not everyone has to own the game or buy a “complete” package. That is, Infinity 2.0 players do not need to buy another base to use and software upgrade at the same time. One or the other is all that’s needed. Blind packs are being done away with. For expansion powers, gamers can pick and choose how to improve their Disney character.

What will be released first will be the program itself packaged with one of the two playsets. Twilight of the Republic (featuring Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Darth Maul figurines) will offer a story line that takes place during the Clone Wars, Rise Against the Empire (with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader) will weave itself into the narrative contained in Episodes IV to VI. As for the in-house property, TRON, everything has to take place on the Grid, otherwise why else offer them? Their inclusion is to help develop interest for the movie that’s still in pre-production. Hopefully that means this updated game will have a Lightcycle game to remember, complete with light trails that can cause damage. To include Space Paranoids can be great too. Not everyone wants to purchase or plod through Tron: Evolution the Videogame just to get to multiplayer mode.

Star Wars fans will no doubt be asking many questions. The game itself will have to be recoded to enable Force abilities like pushing and pulling certain objects from afar (instead of physically doing the job) in order to solve puzzles. Abilities like Force Jump and Speed has already been there, but disguised as regular double jump and run. Just how often the lightsaber’s versatility can be used will have many gamers wondering if they can bounce laser blasts back at the shooter instead of deflecting (which Iron Man does reasonably well in this games current iteration). That’s most likely not going to be offered, but any questions as to how this mystical ability will be integrated into the game will be answered in a live streaming event set for this Friday, 11am PST on Twitch.TV/Disney.
