It’s only a mere two weeks away to this year’s kick off to Vancouver Island’s fan conventions for 2015. Tsukino-Con runs February 13-15 at the University of Victoria and with head-organizer Adam Park passing the torch. He’s leaving the duties to the capable hands of Matt Van Herwaarden.
Matt promises that this year is going to be big. This includes guests who are more internationally known when compared to names like Kelly Clark. This year will also mark Tsukino-Con’s first ever Japanese guest, a voice artist.
On the list this year (but not limited to) are:
Satsuki Yukino
Satsuki is a Japanese voice actress and a member of the talent agency Ken Production who started her anime voice career in 1990. Her first lead role came as Kiko-chan in Kiko-chan’s Smile (1996) followed by other prominent roles in Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 (Sylia Stingray), Full Metal Panic! (Kaname Chidori), Monster Rancher (Narrator), Natsume’s Book of Friends (Hiiragi) and Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club (Miho Amakata).
Tracey Moore
There are not many people who watch animation who doesn’t know Tracey Moore. Her name in Canada is on par with the likes of fellow voice actors Billie Mae Richards, Len Carlson, Bob Dermer, and Andrew Sabiston.
Tracey has worked with as many animation production companies as she has animated credits to her name. You can hear Tracey’s talent in My Pet Monster (Princess), George Shrinks (George Bernard Shrinks), The Care Bears (Share Bear/Cheer Bear), Sailor Moon (Serena/Sailor Moon), and The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police (Geek). She is also the voice of cable station BBC Kids.
Curtis Arnott (AKA Takahata101)
Takahata101 is a writer, director, actor, and cosplayer. He is also the co-writer, co-creator, and voice actor of Team Four Star.
Takahata101 can be heard on many abridged anime-spoofs (Hellsing Ultimate, Naruto), some produced by Team Four Star. Team Sour Star carry on the tradition of anime fan dubbing pioneers Pinesalad and Seishun Shitemasu Productions, by pushing the envelope of good taste while still remaining funny.
Kyle Hebert
Kyle has been many things in his career, a talented radio DJ, a voice artist, and a podcaster (The Big Bald Broadcast).
Known under the pseudonym of “Squeege” on Radio Disney in Dallas, Texas, Kyle decided it was time to move out west and pursue his other love in the city of Los Angeles, voice acting.
After doing comical voices on air at Disney, his experience helped him to land the role of the Narrator, the Ox King and Gohan in Funamation’s English dub of Dragon Ball Z. From there the doors for Hebert were open as he continued to work on such anime productions as Sailor Moon, Lupin III, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files, and Gunslinger Girl. Kyle found time in his busy schedule to work non-anime products too. Shows include Jackie Chan Adventures and Mixed Nutz. He also provided the voice of Santa Claus in the animated short The Christmas Tree of Might.
In the video-gamne world, he’s also known as Ryu in the Street Fighter games. He reprised his role in the recent animated movie Wreck-It Ralph.
