Screen-Shot-2013-08-27-at-2Disney Infinity video game enthusiasts will be in for multiple treats next year. In an interview with Computer and Videogames, Disney Interactive’s John Vignocchi and John Blackburn teased at the inclusion of the Star Wars universe. If there’s a date to guess at, that may come to coincide with the theatrical release of Episode 7: The Force Unleashed. The new hope is that not only the classic quadruplet —Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca — be featured in this toy line but also the characters from Star Wars: Rebels. Patches to the game engine will be required if the Force abilities and lightsaber actions are going to be fully realized.

The likelihood of seeing the live action film translated over to the toy franchise first is slim. To see the original cast in their youthful form is most likely not even in the books. In order to get the attention of older fans still into gaming, this company will be very remiss not to. For new legions missing the CGI from the TV series, hopefully all the figurines will have a Clone Wars style look to them.

In a video game update that focuses on the Marvel Universe specifically, the new game possibilities can be fun. Can the Guardians of the Galaxy help the Galactic Empire transition back to being a Republic? When two new figures are being added — Yonduir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00OVSKCAK, Green Goblinir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00OVSKCBO and Ronan the Destroyerir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00OVSKCBE
on January 13th — trouble will be brewing. Nowhere is safe, not even Tatooine. This planet along with Corsucant will no doubt have to be featured when proper play sets arrive. The likelihood of C3P0 and R2D2 as being part of the first wave of figures is going to be very high. And somewhere in the great cosmos, Heimdall will be watching from the rainbow bridge. He’s deserving to be made into a figure, but not yet!

Fans will be excited to learn that Lokiir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00OVSKD5Y will arrive in late March with the “avenging” Falconir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00OVSKD4K nipping at his nose. Both will be part of The Avengers play set, and just maybe, a packaging deal with Thor and Loki is next to include Assault On Asgardir?t=wiupgeatthmo 20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00NZH4X4O (due Jan 13th, 2015), where there will be 10 levels for players to fight their way into Odin’s Palace.

Although this expansion of the Marvel universe is great for some people, other fans may well be asking: what about the movie TRON? Teases of this universe was offered in Infinity 1.0 and the skins are available in version 2. They are coming. According to Infinity Inquirer, Sam Flynn and Quorra will arrive sometime in 2015. It’s a shame that Kevin, TRON or Sark are not considered — the first film is probably considered too old to place. At least the two power-ups that will become available will be the Tron Light Cycle and Light Jet as in-game unlockables. Trying to find those in the disc packs will not be fun. Hopefully the company will see fit to make a proper play set to include everything all in one go than to force customers to buy massive amounts of packs just to locate these two items.

As for what else is to come, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is almost around the corner. Fans can expect to find more characters from the Disney Marvel Universe to arrive, keeping interest alive for a mutable game of exploration and conquest.
