It’s been almost three months since any real news has come from StarBlazers.com but fans have been rewarded for their patience with a load of Star Blazer / Yamato news and a new direction for their official site.
It was announced through their Youtube channel yamatocrew01 that Space Battleship Yamato 2199 will see a Japanese and North American release. The Youtube video is hosted by the official Yamato Girl for outside of Japan, model Shiori Kawana.
On February 27, 2014, Yamato 2199 will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray. Japan will get seven discs while North America will receive six. What doesn’t add up is the information published on the official Star Blazers website. According to online information, there will be six DVDs containing 4 episodes each. That gives North Americans 24 episodes in total, but yet there are 26 episodes documented. Is this a reporting error on their part or will Japan be the only country to receive all 26 episodes?
Fans can either wait and see, order the Japanese DVDs through Amazon or take a chance by pre-ordering the set through the Star Blazers website on December 19th — which is also the relaunch of the official site. Fans will soon be able to purchase Yamato / Star Blazers merchandise after this date, and that includes DVDs, Blu-Rays, figures and much much more. Fans will also be kept up-to-date with news from Japan and they can also watch pop videos and episodes online.
Star Blazers now has an official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
If I have taken all the information from the enclosed video, don’t let me spoil it for you, it’s worth watching just for the cute hostess alone. Ah yes, what a sad otaku I am.
