Mainframe Entertainment Gets Reboot

Proof of this devotion was recorded by Michael Benyaer at Mainframe Entertainment’s Reboot panel during the recent Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo.

RebootCastIt is glorious news and perhaps news that dedicated fans have long been waiting for. Mainframe Entertainment, who were responsible for such hit TV series as Beast Wars: Transformers (Beasties in Canada), Weird-Oh’s and Shadow Raiders (War Planets in the USA) is being rebooted.

Now known as Rainmaker Entertainment, the company will use the Mainframe Entertainment name as their television arm. Said Michael Hefferon, President and Executive Producer of Rainmaker, We are excited to focus our television production activities under the Mainframe brand. We believe this announcement emphasizes Rainmaker’s commitment to the production of animated programming for television.”

And that animated programming under both Mainframe and Rainmaker is an extensive catalog that spanned the 1990’s and 2000’s. Mainframe produced such TV specials as Casper’s Haunted Christmas and Scary Godmother while Rainmaker saw success with Mattel’s Barbie DVD home releases, and provided the digital special effects for Stargate SG-1.

I was excited to learn that Mainframe Entertainment will be handling the new Reboot series. The news was announced yesterday. It is my hope that Mainframe will enlist at least some of the original voice cast.

Created by Gavin Blair, Ian Pearson, Phil Mitchell and John Grace, Reboot was about a Guardian from the net named Bob (Michael Benyaer). His mission was to mend and defend his new-found friends and the computer city known as Mainframe from the evil viruses Hexadecimal (Shirley Millner) and Megabyte (Tony Jay).

It has been 13 years since Reboot ended. Fans have not forgotten the unique Vancouver animated series and many are still devoted in present day.

Proof of this devotion was recorded by Michael Benyaer at Mainframe Entertainment’s Reboot panel during the recent Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo. What he recorded could be compared to Prideful citizens pledging allegiance to their country’s flag. And perhaps such pride is in the heart of each Reboot fan who eagerly await a return of their beloved series. For this particular fan, a return would cause me to quote to Rainmaker what Benyaer expressed to the fans at the Edmonton Expo, “You just blew my mind!”

There is a Facebook page, Revival of Reboot, dedicated to bringing this series back. You can find them here.
