Free RPG Day 2025 is on Saturday, June 21, 2025, and I hope to get a new set of dice this year! However, this annual event doesn’t promise everything and I can only cross my fingers. Some years are better than others in terms of what cool stuff gets offered, and I’ve covered the recent years since getting back into the hobby.
It all depends on how much “product” each gaming company wants to reveal. Quite often, they are quick-start rules to popular fantasy or sci-fi worlds. When TCGs and Wargaming are the mainstay for most operations, the fact there’s a day to celebrate the other side of the hobby says it all. Although the list of items being offered is still being announced a bit at a time, what I’ve compiled at the time of writing to posting is a list of products known so far:
- Free League Publishing: The Magistrate’s Gambit — A quick start adventure set in the world of Dragonbane. This rules system allows for fast and furious play while maintaining a steady pace. This system is a translation of Drakar och Demoner, Scandinavia’s first and biggest tabletop RPG, originally launched in 1982.
- Goodman Games: The Dying Light of Castle Whiterock — A low-level adventure (1st or 2nd level) available in both Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC RPG) and 5E formats.
- Paizo Publishing:
- Pathfinder 2E: The Scourge of Sheerleaf — A 10th-level adventure featuring dragonblooded adventurers confronting an adamantine dragon.
- Starfinder 2E: A 1st-level adventure involving an attack by the Corpse Fleet and space pirates

- Edge Studio: Comets of Kingsport — A 4-hour standalone adventure for the Arkham Horror RPG, previously showcased at GenCon and PAX Unplugged.
- Marvel Multiverse RPG: Thunderbolts One-Shot — A standalone adventure offering a sneak peek at the upcoming Avengers expansion.

- Darrington Press (Critical Role): A Familiar Problem — A one-page RPG where players take on the roles of animal companions.
- Hit Point Press: Shock in Stormcrag — An adventure set in the 5E-compatible Humblewood setting, featuring anthropomorphic animal characters.
- Need More Games: Rojo — A fantasy western adventure inspired by Kurosawa films, using the Terror Target Gemini rule set.
- Foam Brain Games: An exclusive variant of their Emergency D20 scratch-off card.
- WizKids: Offering 10 Baldur’s Keep miniatures as part of the event kit.
- Level 1 Anthology: Returning with its sixth edition, showcasing indie RPGs from various creators.
