The live-action Fate: The Winx Saga breathes life to a franchise I miss watching. While the latest is a good Netflix series, it does not have the same appeal as the original. Iginio Straffi’s character designs made it unique, and despite changes in directions in later seasons, I enjoyed it. And until the rumoured animated reboot series gets broadcast (more on this later). I’ll take what’s there and eagerly give Fate: The Winx Saga, The Shadow War, volume two of the graphic novel series, a read!

Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group are pleased to announce this upcoming graphic novel, and they got more information about it.

From the Press Release:

The magical school of Alfea all but destroyed, its fractured remnants defended by the brave fairies and specialists who remain—even in the wake of heartbreaking loss.

The roommates of the Winx Suite have been hit the hardest. Stella has fallen to the darkness and leads an army against her former friends. Aisha, Musa, Flora and Sky must come up with a plan to push back the shadows that threaten to overrun their world…

Meanwhile, Bloom puts everything on the line to redeem herself to those she holds most dear.

Olivia Cuartero-Briggs expressed her excitement about the second book in her take on the Fate: The Winx Saga universe. “I am incredibly proud of these books and all of the amazing work that has gone into bringing my crazy ideas to life.Yes, I have made some big, bold choices in terms of the storytelling, and I will continue to as long as the stellar team at Maverick sees fit to keep Fate: Winx in my hands. The characters and the fans deserve nothing less, and that’s what I will deliver. Always. I love this world and the magic it holds, and I am so excited to share this next chapter with new and old fans alike.”

“Working on this project has been surreal! I would have never expected to be given an opportunity such as this and I’m very grateful for it. The team has made me feel very welcomed and appreciated,” said the book’s illustrator, Valeria Peri.

And in the animated front, Straffi has updates on their series with this YouTube video. The new CGI style designs look terrific. While none of the original aesthetic looks fully kept, I’ll take anything from this magical girl genre this creator offers.
