While fans of Avatar are eagerly waiting for the animated movie to release in 2026, the adventures that have taken place as published by Dark Horse Comics are getting a proper Avatar: The Last Airbender Omnibus collection! I’ve been collecting these comics as they came out, and they feel like a perfect continuation. This ought to be enough to sate eager fans following the news of the television series, Avatar: Seven Havens, which is a continuation of the franchise. The summary is as follows (from Variety):
Per the official logline, the series is set in “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
As for the movie, the date for release is January 2026. At Fan Expo Vancouver, I said hi to Zach Tyler Eisen again. I saw him last year at Emerald City and asked if the creators considered him to come back for some kind of return role. Even then, non-disclosure agreements would prevent him from revealing anything. Also, Gordon Cormier, from the live-action version, was at the Terminal City show and this time he had a booth! Their panel was about answering questions from fans rather than offering updates regarding what’s being planned. One takeaway is that Cormier is excited about Toph’s debut! He did not mention when season two would air. Also, the fact both sides are supportive of one another says it all.

And at long last, I can claim I’ve met the core team! Michaela Jill Murphy attended this event and got a selfie with her and Greg Baldwin in costume! Between both shows, instead of spending money for autographs and selfies all the time, all I want to say is thank you for being involved in a series that’s meant a lot to many people.

Anyone who has been on the fence on whether to buy the graphic novels in one form or another now has a chance. This compendium includes “The Promise,” “The Search,” “The Rift (my most favourite),” “Smoke and Shadow,” and “North and South” presented in a beautiful-looking slipcase cover. Apparently, a few manufacturing defects appeared in previous print runs, so to offer an updated edition is a smart move on the publisher’s front.
Gene Luen Yang wrote most of these early tales with Gurihiru doing the art. They were created in collaboration with Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
There’s also Avatar: The Last Airbender Omnibus Ultimate Edition Boxed Set will be available to pre-order exclusively from Dark Horse Direct. This version has a MSRP of $250 USD. This company will limit this edition to 500 sets and expects to ship it to customers in March-April 2025.

If that’s not enough, Avatar: The Last Airbender—The Lost Adventures and Team Avatar Tales Omnibus (Amazon link) will follow featuring tales from Michael Dante DiMartino, Gene Luen Yang, Gurihiru, Faith Erin Hicks, Kiku Hughes, and many more! This book is due in June.
If both volumes are considered scratching the surface to please a fan base, then the Legend of Korra books is overdue for an omnibus collection. When that will get released is anyone’s guess. More stories are being released this year, and next week will see the release of The Legend of Korra: The Mystery of Penquan Island! (Amazon link)
