Vader Roasting on an Open Pyre

By James Robert Shaw (The Wind up Geek)

Nothing says Christmas like the annual broadcast of a yule log burning in a fireplace but how about Darth Vader burning on an open pyre? Yes now you can add a little bit of Star Wars and the Force into your Christmas festivities by watching five hours worth of Vader’s body burn away. Thanks to YouTube user BenjaminApple he’s super imposed flames over the funeral pyre seen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

At the beginning of the video we can watch Luke Skywalker light the pyre under Vader’s body. There’s emotional music created by John Williams playing in the background but the music fades out and we are left with the audio sound of a burning fireplace for the remaining time of the video with superimposed flames for that extra effect.

There’s something comically dark about watching Skywalker’s father snap, crackle, and pop on-screen and yet it gives one a warm glow inside. Could it be the Christmas spirit or a Force awakening? Hopefully there’ll be someone who’ll come along and stoke the fire now and again.
