Swords at the Ready for Three Musketeers’ Korean Debut

ThreeMusketeersTelevision network, tvN in Korea, have released a roughly six-minute preview video of their highly anticipated action-romance series, The Three Musketeers.

The series has taken Alexandre Dumas’ classic story and adapted it as a sageuk period drama. Dumas’ 17th century France will become Korea’s Joeseon dynasty. Audiences will be able to follow the adventures of Park Dal Hyang and his friends Crown Prince So Hyung, Heo Seung Po and Ahn Min Seo as they become Joeseon’s Musketeers.

Cast for the series is Korea’s pop idol Jung Yong Hwa from CNBlue (Park Dal Hyang), Yang Dong Geun, Lee Jin Wook (Crown Prince So Hyung), Jung Hae In, Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo In Young.

The three-season drama will be airing 12 episodes for each season. The first episode will air August 17 at 9 p.m. (KST) on tvN.

  1. *cringes* This looks… really cheap. I suspect that even if I was better versed in Korean pop culture, I still wouldn’t be able to take this adaptation particularly seriously. (Though in all fairness, I’ve fallen in love with the new BBC Musketeers television series, and there simply isn’t room in my heart for another TV adaptation of the story right now).
