Ready or Not, Manganika Studio’s Cosmic Séance Demo Is Ready To Drive Player’s “Insane!”

Cosmic Séance PosterDemo available on Steam

Manganika Studio’s trailer for Cosmic Séance looks awesome, and the concept is sound. At its core, this visually rich adventure is about choices. You have to carefully select your questions, and the beast’s answer may well test your sanity! Getting a response is only the beginning. Making sense of it is where the challenge lies.

This Victorian-era narrative investigation game trades twitch reflexes for psychological mystery.  Some players will like this idea, and for others, accept the concept for it it is and admire the art design. When some illustrations remind me of the graphic novel Young Lovecraft, the concepts are certainly familiar. Even the design of the entities may challenge fans of H.P. Lovecraft’s works to correctly identify!

For instance, that three-eyed head immediately made me think of Hastur, even though the game never identifies the first entity as such.

Here, players step into the polished shoes of a “Royal Medium” called upon by a young queen to save a dying kingdom. Rather than fending off eldritch abominations with weapons, you must commune with ancient cosmic forces to uncover forgotten truths. These otherworldly beings never lie, but they answer through cryptic visions.

Progress depends on organizing these surreal clues on an interactive vision board. Players drag, arrange, and decipher fragments of information to identify court traitors, read sealed letters, or solve historical mysteries. Every query comes at a price. Much like in Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu, sanity acts as a dwindling resource. The more you lose, the closer your medium gets to madness!

If your mind gives out before the mystery is solved, the abyss consumes you entirely.

Designed to be completed over a weekend across roughly 30 séances, Cosmic Séance emphasizes slow-burn deduction, story choices, and atmosphere over jump scares. It looks promising for those who love detective-style mysteries. If you crave fast-paced action, it’s best to look elsewhere.

Developed by Hernán Smicht (El Tango de la Muerte) and artist Pamela Wehrhahne, Cosmic Séance brings a South American creative perspective to classic Lovecraftian themes. The full release is planned for Q2 2027 on PC. What’s offered is a good tease.

Players can wishlist Cosmic Séance on Steam to track further updates ahead of launch.
