The Zombie Wedding is Nothing to Moan Over When Crazy Feuding Familes Agree

Just how much of the undead virus exists in Zack (Donald Chang) depends on who you ask. I wouldn’t know he’s a zombie until it was stated, and when he wants to marry Ashley (Deepti Menon), nobody from their family is going to stop them from having The Zombie Wedding of the year! The media is even having a field day asking, how is it possible?

What I love about this comedy is that it really belongs in the same universe as A Little Bit Zombie. Although this work is over a decade old, I feel there are shared ideas. For this latest, director Micah Khan and writer Greg D’Alessandro crafted a fantastic satire on multiculturalism and how to get along.

On the bride’s side are Betty (Siobhan Fallon Hogan) and Buddy Bob Morgan (Kevin Chamberlin) who insist on a redneck style union, As for the groom’s mother, Cindy (Cheri Oteri) wants something more traditional. They provide the best laughs.

But to be honest, it’s the roving investigative journalists Elsa Wolf (Christine Spang) and Frank (Mu-Shaka Benson) who steals the show. They are looking into how this union came to be, and as an aside, are searching for a cure to the zombie virus. Zack’s “decay” materialises like clown makeup and as for whether this can be reversed, that’s a macguffin I’m curious about.

As for whether this groom has the mental prowess to continue on living, much less be capable of saying, “I do,” I had to say I have to watch to find out! Overall, this film is simply gonzo. When Micky Dolenz (The Monkees) has a minor role, all I know is that I have to see it! A Zombie Wedding has the potential to be a cult classic, and that’s because I love the fact the zombies we see here are not necessarily brain-dead! It seems to happen over time, and thankfully they’re not necessarily completely gone either.
