Band-Maid was formed in July, 2013 and consists of members Saiki Atsumi (vocals), Miku Kobato (guitar, vocals), Kanami Touno (guitar), Akane Hirose (drums), and Misa (bass). Known for their maid outfits commonly worn by hostesses of Japan’s Maid Cafés, their look was a concept born from the experiences of founding member Miku who worked at Noodol Cafe in Tokyo‘s Akihabara district.
The group has released two albums on Gump Records, their debut album Maid In Japan in January, 2014 and their latest called New Beginning was released in December, 2015. Band-Maid has been written about on media sites Guitar World and Metal Injection. Their music videos “Real Existence” and “Thrill” have racked-up over 1 million views on YouTube. Band-Maid is managed by Shibuya-based Platinum Passport artist management and talent agency, a division of Avex Group.
Other guests announced for Sakura-Con were Gouk fashion designer, Takeshi Kunitomo.
