2016 the Year of Babymetal: New Album and World Tour

By James Robert Shaw (The Wind up Geek)

J-pop-metal music trio Babymetal has confirmed their second album will be released through earMUSIC on April 1 of next year. The day of release has been branded ‘Fox Day’ and is normally seen in Japan as a day for renewal. The Japanese Government begins their fiscal year on April 1st and that is a date many corporations form or merge. It is also the time children start their school year.

Babymetal will be backing their latest release with a world tour that will include a concert in London‘s SSE Arena, Wembley on April 2nd and a headline show at Tokyo Dome in Japan — with dates to be confirmed in the new year.

Babymetal made the announcement at Yokohama Arena this past weekend, where they performed three new, as-yet-untitled tracks.
Kobametal, the band’s producer, released the following statement:

“As prophesied by the FOX GOD, a new album will be released on April 1st, 2016, also known as the FOX DAY. Since the release of BABYMETAL’s debut album in 2014, we have been racing across the globe non-stop on our World Tour. Through the last tour I have come across people from all over the world and have had the chance to feel that miraculous moment when everyone came together via BABYMETAL. Our new song “THE ONE” contains lyrics that speak of uniting the world, or a crowd favorite at concerts “Road of Resistance” that never fails to bring our fans together, every BABYMETAL song makes up this extraordinary story. I continue to believe that the songs of BABYMETAL continue to push them forward to discover new possibilities. All I can say right now is for all of you to wait patiently for the coming of the FOX DAY.”

Babymetal’s leading vocalist Su-metal commented: “I will be putting my everything into the production of our upcoming album because I believe that many of you are waiting for it. We are looking forward to meeting our fans abroad again next year at Wembley Arena right after the release of our second album, so you can expect to hear our new songs for the very first time live there!! Performing at TOKYO DOME next year still feels like a dream but I am going to work towards building up my confidence to stand on that stage and I hope to continue growing through our upcoming World Tour.”

Band member Moametal added: “Despite the revelation tonight, I still can’t imagine that that day would come, when we would perform at Tokyo Dome. On top on that, our new album will be released on Fox Day, so I promise you that we will come up with an album that will betray your expectations – in a good way of course.”

Tickets for the Wembley show can be purchased through MyTicket, SeeTickets or SSE Arena.

Babymetal’s latest album can be purchased starting December 14th, at 4pm from their Official Merchandise Store.

Babymetal was formed in 2010 and includes members Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal), and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal). Their self-titled debut album was released digitally in 2014 and in physical format in early 2015. Babymetal and it’s band are managed by Amuse, Inc.
