Star Wars: The Clone Wars Finale to Hit Netflix!

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

Multiple sources have confirmed that the final season to Lucafilm/Disney’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming to Netflix early March. Finally, the fate of Ahsoka Tano will get answered in a 13 episode run that will not only test Anakin Skywalker’s relationship with her (presumably) but also reveal the fate of all Jedi before it leads in to Episode 4, A New Hope.

Even more exciting is that Netflix will present director’s cut of seasons one to five. Now the big question is whether or not new video releases will follow. In this exclusive deal between Disney and Netflix, most likely not. But for fans who knows the lore, all it takes is Obi-Wan to only hope.

A re-release of The Clone Wars on DVD/Blu-Ray is inevitable, but that will most likely not happen until after Star Wars VII is released, or offered after into the theatrical series “end.” Can anyone imagine a mega-pack that explores Anakin Skywalker’s life from Episode I to IX? Darth Vader is long dead, but Anakin’s spirit is now with the Force. To see him return might happen, but no one truly knows what J.J. Abrams has in mind. Since Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are coming back, to see Natalie Portman, Ewan McGregor or Hayden Christensen play some role may well be a secret that no producer will admit to when considering how the seminal characters like to be present in some form or another throughout the Star Wars universe, namely Boba Fett.

But who knows, if hope is truly alive, maybe a sanitized version of episodes IV to VI might get offered when the movies get another mega-pack release. Lightsabers do not have to be crossed if best laid plans of mice and fans can come to fruition.
