He-man’s Power Sword will soon not only be the the only iconic weapon used in the ongoing battle between good and evil in the Masters of the Universe. It seems there are other relics, and when used (or found), they can upset the delicate balance, and today, Mattel, Inc and Dark Horse Comics announced a new chapter to this world. They unveiled the new chapter to the saga titled Masters of the Universe: The Sword of Flaws, a new four-issue miniseries firmly rooted in the classic lore continuity.
From the Press Release:
The new series is written by New York Times bestselling writerTim Seeley, illustrated by Eisner Award-winning artistFreddie E. Williams II (Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle), colored byAndrew Dalhouse (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull, SpaceGhost), and lettered byAndWorld Design (Masters of the Universe/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles of Grayskull, Canto: A Place Like Home). Issue #1 will feature cover art by Williams and a variant by Tim Seeley with Brad Simpson.
About Masters of the Universe: The Sword of Flaws:
A legion of Heroic Warriors protects the magical realm known as Eternia. They are led by Teela: Captain of the Royal Guard, Man-at-Arms: weapons master and combat instructor, and the powerful and heroic He-Man.
These heroes, known as the Masters Of The Universe, keep threats like the evil Skeletor and his minions at bay. But when an ancient and evil artifact is unearthed from the depths, the Masters of the Universe will have to scour the land in search of this Preternian power…or risk it falling into the hands of their greatest enemies.
Even though I’m not picking up every comic book release ofMasters of the Universe, when the wait for the next animated chapters of this series is long, Dark Horse Comics always deliver fantastic filler material. And when they are recognised as proper canon from the toy manufacturer, that’s when I take notice!
