Production is expected to begin in 2014 for a Summer 2015 release. Now the big question is, just who will be the Batman? As most viewers will know, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has “retired” and the mantle may well be passed on to a younger passionate John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt).
The big question is if Gordon-Levitt will be the next Batman? Some measure of continuity must be set up if the movie is to build to a Justice League film. Also, there will have to be a handful of more introductions to be made. A Wonder Woman movie has been in development hell for the longest time. And what about Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Flash? If there is an eventual goal to make a JL movie, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have a ton of catching up to do.
Marvel Entertainment may appear to dominate the box office with its comic book movies. To unseat their position will definitely need a Man of Steel to shove them away. With Christopher Nolan serving as an executive producer and maintaining a steady vision in Superman at least, the path may be clear. As for whether or not he will return handling the chores of producing Batman at some capacity, that will be interesting to follow when future news reports come in.
