[Web-series] The Quest for Esluna: The First Monolith, A First Look

Halfway into the YouTube animated series Esluna: The First Monolith, Bataar (voiced by local Victoria Fringe Festival favourite Shawn O’Hara) may well have the means to go home. He’s from another world and unless he gains allies to help him, he’s stuck in a strange land populated with robots and ruled by a power-hungry warlord. The way he arrived suggests he’s been spirited away than simply teleported over. An ancient artifact of mystical power called The Monolith brought him here and nobody operated it at the time. When it’s in the hands of Queen Leda (Tara Pratt), who wants to use it for other purposes, returning will not be easy.

Anyone who controls this device holds the fate of Esluna in their hands. Maeve (Grace Chan) knows of what it can do. She’s a relic hunter who will prevent any lost artifact from going to the wrong people. Many years have passed, and the story picks up when Bataar is older. He feels resigned to his fate and eventually hope picks up.

When I want my spirits lifted away, I listen to this album originally released in 2014.

It has a huge potential to become a new live musical, the direction I hope it might take. Continue reading

Injustice 2’s Starfire Shows How Cosmic Fighting Can Get

25 Jul

Injustice 2 is looking a lot more hotter with the unveiling of a new video showing Starfire in action. Within this narrative, this superheroine gets motivated into action by the death of Dick Grayson. She’s questioning the new Robin, and of course, they fight; Starfire shows off deadly energy beams, celestial projectiles and her supernova super in this gameplay trailer.

In the comics, Nightwing (Dick) was totally unprepared in his attempt to “work” the inmmates of Arkham Asylum. In the videogame, well, I have not gotten that far yet to see in order to unlock this character. This trailer shows Starfire avenging the death of Nightwing.

Social Media Meme, Smug Wendy, Gets Her Own Anime Opening

17 May

By James Robert Shaw
(The Wind up Geek)

If you’ve been following social media then you may know the back story to the Smug Wendy meme that has been making the rounds. If you don’t, the meme originated after an exchange on Twitter on April 10, 2017. It was the result of two corporate giants, two powerhouses in the world of the North American number one love, burgers. It all started when Twitter users @jstaff15 (Joey Staffileno) and @phelps_ryan (Ryan Phelps) debated which burger chains “4 for 4” deal was better, Wendy’s or Hardee’s. While Hardee’s was praising Phelps, Wendy’s was not without a retort.
