Hold on to your hats! The surviving members of Monty Python are reuniting and they are going to put on a show at the O2 Arena in London on July 1, 2014. The show will contain some of their greatest hits “with a modern, topical, Pythonesque twist” and feature some new material. But for a fan like me, I’m looking forward to wondering what kind of wonderful animation Terry Gilliam is going have play during this stage production. The big question is if I should plan a vacation to go see them, or hold out in hopes the Pythons will tour.

At the press conference this morning, with Warwick Davis graciously hosting, the team revealed that the O2 show will be taped. As for whether or not that will see distribution, the BBC and the team have not formalized any details. But when there are no concrete plans if the gang will take the show on the road, that depends. They are certainly open to the idea. Who knows, maybe John Cleese can convince the team to begin or end their Canadian leg in Victoria, British Columbia. He’s certainly put on more than just a few shows here when he did his “Last Time to See Me Before I Die” Tour.

Eric Idle is going to direct this stage extravaganza, and John Cleese explained to Variety, “People do really want to see the old hits, but we don’t want to do them in a predictable way. The main danger we have is that the audience know the scripts better than we do.”

Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones round out who will be performing and if Graham Chapman is watching from above, hopefully he will be giving his stomp of approval.

Tickets range from £26.50 to £95. They will go on sale on Nov. 25.
